Armchairs and How to Decorate a Bedroom for Messy People

I'm in the market for a new chair. I think every bedroom should have a chair in it. It's nice to have a place to read, or put your shoes on, that isn't your bed. As an added bonus, they catch a lot of things to keep the floor a little clean. I mean, no one always has all their clothes hung up and put away, right??

Anyhow, I've had the same chair for years. When I describe it, it sounds terrifying. It's an armchair from the 70s, that's orange and white stripe velvet. See, terrifying. It's not that bad though, I really do like it, but it's time for a change.

Ideally I'd like a mix between beautiful hard wood and soft vintage leather (I feel like I want everything in that combination). Though I will not be spending thousands of dollars on a chair via 1stdibs, it certainly doesn't hurt to look.

Things That Are Awesome Thursday: Sale Season

I think it's only fair to state the obvious and throw out how wonderful sale season truly is.

It comes only twice a year, just as the seasons change, and offers just the right prices for the pieces you've been dreaming of all season.

Another thing-that-would-be-awesome, would be to be able to afford the entirety of my sale wish list.

But I think it's safe to say, that simply won't be happening.... but it doesn't hurt to dream.

Hidden In The Courtyard

Hidden in a courtyard just past the Royal Palace in Copenhagen, is one of the most beautiful boutiques I've ever been to.

A secret fashion gem of Copenhagen, B56 carries the most interesting and unique European brands, such as Basso & Brooke, Inwear, Milleneufcent-quatrevingtquatre, and Stine Goya. The owner and her blogger daughter have an incredible sense of taste and editing. While most of the lines are rather expensive, and more artistic than daily street wear, the shop is not elitist. A rare but welcome retail experience.

I would argue it is my favorite boutique in Scandinavia.

If you find yourself in Copenhagen, it's an absolute destination for the best of European fashion.

How To: Find Your Suitcase Soulmate

Besides my Passport, there is no object I love more than my suitcase. I only have one, and it was given to me as a graduation gift ("Oh the Places You'll Go", but in an object, instead of a book.)

Anyhow, I wasn't given the opportunity to select it myself, but it's still one of my favorite things.

Steps for finding your suitcase soulmate:

1. Pick a size that you can carry on your own, if it was full of hardcover books. 

i.e. it should be small.

This is the number one, most important rule. ALWAYS pack light. You can purchase things you need along the way if you have forgotten them, but 9 times out of 10 you won't use everything you packed. You should be able to pack for most trips (2 weeks or less) in a carry-on, and without stuffing it. Overpacking, unless you're Anna Dello Russo, makes you look like a novice. At everything.

2. Consider where you travel most often. Business travel requires a much different suitcase than a casual holiday traveler. A ski bunny needs luggage that would be wrong for a weekend in Bahia.

3. Organizational Opportunities.

4. Aesthetics and Price

This is the suitcase I have. While its not the distressed leather beauty of my dreams, it is really practical, and really light. It also can be rolled, or thrown over your shoulder with added backpack straps. It's also really small, but fits a lot. Highly recommended.
