Things That Are Awesome Thursday: Internet Menagerie

1
Now that I'm no longer a full time art history student, I no longer spend my days sifting through countless databases and archives looking for images and primary sources.
Needless to say, this is the greatest thing I've seen on the internet in ages.

Things That Are Awesome Thursday: Being an Internet Superstar

So today, something weird kind of happened...
I became an internet superstar.

While superstar might be a bit of an exaggeration; I thought I was just posting another picture on my tumblr... but somehow the Tumblr Radar gang got a hold of it, and I ended up on the dashboard.
Not only was I on the dashboard, but as part of the "Tumblr Radar," I (my blog of inspirational images) was in the same company as NPR Music, The Daily, and Kickstarter.

Anyhow, I went from 36 followers to 1,127 followers in less than a couple hours.
Talk about "things that are awesome."

Blue Lagos, 2012 by me

While the ultimate escape from the heat is traveling to a distant sea-side locale, unfortunately, it is never as easy as it sounds. Here are some links for ideas to beat the heat when you're stuck in the city dreaming of icebergs and sailboats

Let Me Share My Favorite Things

Meet my new obsession: Svpply

As I see it, the internet is for no purpose other than sharing information.
Wow, enlightening, I know.

Anyhow, as social media becomes more pervasive, it seems as though the most popular platforms are based on identity. Sharing who I am, what I'm doing, where I am, etc. etc.
Anyone sense the irony, I am blogging....

But, my new social media obsession is Svpply. The whole sight is designed for the sharing of beautiful products. It allows you to build a distinct identity based on one of the most popular activities on the interwebs, window shopping.
Unlike Pinterest, Svpply is focused. It is only about products. It's a product junkie's new best friend.
Take a minute to check it out, create your own account, and let's start sharing awesome things.

I should add, that from a buyer's perspective, this website could prove to be an invaluable tool. It allows you to practice curating collections, without the presence of money, or even better, a boss. I wouldn't be surprised if this became a new essential element on resumes within the next year or two.
Sign up, start collecting. Get ahead of the curce.
